Congratulations to Regional Spelling Bee Champion – Siddharth Kulkarni

On March 17, 2012 Chaboya’s own Siddharth Kulkarni won the Bay Area Regional Spelling Bee today in San Francisco! As the Regional Champion his next stop is the Scripps National Spelling Bee at Washington DC where he will compete amongst the Nation’s best.

In a grueling match between some of the best spellers in the Bay area, Siddharth was able to achieve his dream of participating in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. He put in a lot of effort and it paid off. Siddharth is looking forward to representing Chaboya in the National finals!

PTSA Board Elections for 2012-2013 School Year

The PTSA was thrilled to have many qualified applicants for the 2012-2013 PTSA Board and would like to thank all of the applicants. A Nominating Committee was convened to recommend a slate for the open positions and has submitted their recommendations. This slate of candidates will be voted on during the Association meeting to be held prior to Dinner and Bingo Night on March 29, 2012.

Silver Creek High School Open House – March 13, 2012

On Tuesday, March 13, 2012 the Silver Creek High School PTSA will be hosting an “Open House” and “Meet and Greet” for parents of this fall’s incoming freshmen and for all interested community members who have students on track to Silver Creek High School.

You are welcome to join us in the school’s Library for our General Meeting at 7:00pm, during which time we will briefly address PTSA business, followed by the Open House interaction. Please see the attached flyer for more information.

Congratulations to our winners!

We received 22 impressive entries and 13 of them were selected to represent Chaboya at the Evergreen Council Level. Of those 13 entries, 8 entries were selected at the Evergreen District level, to represent our school district at the Santa Clara County level and one, Sampada Delgurkar, was selected to go on to the State level.

PTSA Association Meeting – Feb 9

The PTSA will have a brief Association Meeting on Tuesday, November 8th, 6:15. p.m., in the Chaboya Gym. This meeting will be followed by the Cyber Bullying Workshop at 6:30pm.

Huge Success for Fitness Run Fundraiser!

We did It! We exceeded our Fitness Run goal of $50,000! We raised $60,000!

Congratulations to the Chaboya community of students, parents, teachers and staff! Because of you, the Fitness Run and Carnival were a HUGE SUCCESS! Mr. Ventura and Mr. Grassi received Mohawks on October 10 to celebrate this accomplishment.

We sincerely thank everyone who helped make this event possible and successful including our teachers, staff, students and parents.

Welcome to the 2011-2012 School Year

As a California Distinguished School, Chaboya is in the top tier of middle schools in California, delivering a first-class education to its students. The Chaboya PTSA provides additional funding to create the types of additional enrichment programs usually only seen in private schools, and we need your help! Through membership and donations from families, the PTSA funded the following last year:

P.E. equipment and after school sports programs, preparing your child to succeed at a competitive high school level
Classroom and library materials, including document cameras and projectors, enabling interactive teaching that connects with your student more effectively
Educational programs such as the Spelling Bee and Literacy Night, encouraging your child to pursue his/her interests
Enrichment Programs such as the Multicultural Event and Drama/Theatre performances, creating a sense of school community and pride

This 2011-2012 school year, we plan to continue the above programs as well as:

Technology: Purchase SmartBoards for more classrooms
Educational Enrichment: Provide financial support where needed to the Band and Drama programs, and school clubs such as the Green, Stock Market, Chess and Math Olympiad Clubs

To significantly reduce the number of school wide fundraisers during the year, PTSA will host three fundraisers with the intent of raising enough to support all PTSA and ASB (student body) activities and programs for the 2011-2012 school year. With your financial support, we hope to eliminate the need for additional fundraisers like magazine, cookie dough, wrapping paper and candy sales.

Join the PTSA. Your contribution of $10 per member (parents and students) is a great starting point.

Make a tax deductible donation to the PTSA. Donate $100 NOW as part of our Membership Drive.

We are looking forward to a great year, filled with amazing programs, championship sports teams, great clubs and first-class academics. Contribute to the PTSA and help ensure your child receives all of the programs needed to succeed in high school and beyond!
